I got this email, can anyone help this Silkie... Hello – We have what we believe is a silkie bantam in our shelter. He was turned in by someone who could no longer care for him, who only told us that this type of chicken is “from Japan.” I have attached photos of this beautiful bird so you can verify if he’s actually a silkie. Is your group involved at all with rescue of these birds? We have some possibility of transport if you have a sanctuary or other placement that would take him and care for him. If not, can you tell me if silkies can be housed with “regular” domestic chickens, and if they need special care to thrive? Many, many thanks. I look forward to hearing from you.
