This is a very interesting article and it makes complete sense to me. I have DE and my girls will not eat any food with it mixed in. They shuned the dust bath I provided as well. I did use in under the water font and it ended the slug problem. I will use it in my garden and probably when I clean out the coop. I think our chickens are very smart about what they need and do not need. I have been worrying about the feed I give and their lack of interest in it. Not only my chickens, but the wild chickens who visit each day and the crows. They all munch the 4 way scratch I feed but they will barely touch the pellets. My chickens are amazingly hearty, they are still laying 6 out of 7 days per week and none have been sick. I have decided to provide pellets free choice and throw scratch in the AM. I supplement with scrambled eggs mixed with oatmeat or rice and they eat whatever they find in the free range of our 3 acres. They folks around here feel chickens will find and eat what they need. I am starting to agree.

I agree, they know what they need. The only time they don't is when they are sick.
