What is all this talk of using a 2 X 4 as an egg turner??? I should be getting my eggs later today and want to know what I am missing....

What you do is to put your eggs in some type of egg carton with the bottoms cut out for air circulation. Then, close up your bator and put a 2x4 under the bator at one end. When you need to turn your eggs, you just slide the 2x4 to the other end of the bator (very carefully). That will tilt the eggs without you having to open the bator. But, make sure that you have several thermometers around the bator to check temps. This seems to cause more of a variation in temps throughout the bator . But, I still think that it is better than opening it up to turn the eggs. You put the eggs in a carton to keep them from rolling around in the bator when you slide the board. Good luck with this and with your eggs .

Thus far, the eggs have NOT made it to me yet. They were due here on Saturday and as of about an hour ago, the post office had no clue where they were. I am so excited finally being able to get some and hatch them out and the post office pull this.....GRRRRR Very depressing nonetheless.

I know how you feel! I hope your eggs turn out better than mine! I had ordered turken eggs and they were due here on Saturday also. Well, I received them today (I think that it would have been better if I had never seen them!). When the mailman handed me the package, egg yolk was dripping out of the box . The box was crushed and there was a tape across it saying that it had been damaged during shipping and was repackaged in Baton Rouge. Half of the eggs were completely crushed. The other half were covered in egg yolk. I wiped the ones that weren't broken, but they are probably still ruined. I took a picture of the box and eggs and plan on complaining to the post office (not that it will do any good). I was really looking forward to getting more turkens, but I don't know if I was meant to have them . Something always happens. Good luck with your eggs and let us know what happens.
