I have a daughter-in-law and her and my son have 1 little boy that is 5 years old and 1 little girl that is 1 year old. Yesterday as I came from the chicken pens my son called me over to the shed and unfolded a lawn chair and told me I needed to sit down he had something to tell me, well you know that scared me to death. Then he proceeds to tell me that our daughter-in-law is 12 weeks pregnate with twins. That just blew me away. I am going to be Mimi to twins, I am still in shock!

Wow! Congratulations! We have several twins in our family and they are amazing. They really seem to have this special connection and they even seemed to have their own language when they were little. So, what does big brother think ? My kids want another baby sister or brother so bad. My youngest even told my MIL that I was going to have a baby. Talk about an uproar that caused!!! Everyone was mad at me for not telling anyone and I didn't even know about it .

Big brother is very excited and of course you know he is praying that at least one of the twins will be a boy. I have never had twins in the family so I think this will be a neat experience.

So, the twins are fraternal? A good friend of mine has 7 year old twins. She swears that they are fraternal, but I don't know anyone other than their parents that can tell them apart. Even their older sister, who is 10, gets them confused at times. One thing that they hate is to be called "the twins." They will remind you that they are two separate people with names LOL. But, when they dress themselves, they end up wearing the exact same thing LOL.
I also have identical twin cousins. Their parents had to put ID bracelets on their ankles when they were younger. One day, one of their older sisters took the bracelets off as a joke and forgot which bracelet went to which baby. To this day, nobody knows if they have the names that they were born with LOL. These two boys are now 22 years old, dress alike, work together and live together. And, these two were something else when they were younger (they are very nice young men, now)! They got in more trouble trading places.
I know that both of these mothers needed all of the help that they could get before and after the births. Especially since they both had older children. We also gave the older kids a little extra attention. The 10 year old will tell you that she gets tired of her little sisters getting all of the attention, especially when someone comes up to them in public and comments about the twins and pretty much ignores her, unless it is to ask her something about her twin sisters. So, when we get together, there is nothing mentioned about "the twins." This seems to help.

I was kinda worried about their 1 year old little girl because she will be the Middle Child when they are born and I am going to do my best to make sure she does not get ignored. The oldest boy will always get plenty of attention because he always makes himself known, but the little girl is timid and shy and just the best little thing in the world.
