How close is it going to get to you. I hope it misses you. By the way, how are the serama eggs doing?

Hey there. We made it through the storm by fleeing to Arkansas. We have been back for a while now, but still no electricity. I lost all of the eggs in the incubator (serama, nankin, and guinea). But, our house only suffered minor damage. But, the nankin coop was pretty much destroyed. A big tree fell right across the coop and run. Luckily, the nankins decided that it was safer to stay in their coop than try to escape. And, unbelievably, we didn't have any animal casualties. They were all completely fine and extremely glad to see us. I will be back later with pictures when we get electricity. I am using my Aunt's computer, so I need to keep it fairly short. Talk to yall later.

Wow, what a mess. I know you have been busy. Just let me know when the mail picks back up. I know the Nankins were ok, but what about your other birds?

Unbelievably, all of the animals were just fine. All of the coops (except the nankins) and cages are on the south side of the barn and the winds were blowing east to west. We had also left a lot of food. Most got wet, but they still had some that stayed dry. We did call the police department to see if they would try and make it out to our place to feed them (we have friends in the department), but they couldn't. They did tell us that the national guard had road blocks up, but they didn't know the back roads, so we snuck back in. I felt like a criminal . The animals were so glad to see us. Cannon Ball even flew up onto my shoulder and started pecking on my hair. They didn't even stop laying eggs until a cold front came through a few days ago. They layed right through the storm and for days after. I had people begging for some eggs (grocery stores didn't have anything cold or any vegetables). These were the same people who picked on my for making "pets" out of my chickens. I don't think that they are going to say another thing bad about my chickens again .
