I'm in Louisiana. I raise silkies. I did have a coop of Nankins until a barn cat got in and killed all except 5 roosters a few days ago (I am on a mission to catch that thing). I also have a coop of my favorite chickens that I keep as pets. We also have cows, a miniature horse, pygmy goats, dogs, cats, cockatiels, rabbits, bearded dragons, a turtle, and a pig. Oh, I forgot, I also raise kids . I have three and expecting the fourth in June. ccbmom

You did not tell me you were going to have another one!! Congradulation. I am getting twin grandbabies in feb and we have found out that it will be a boy and a girl. So far I know the boys middle name will be the same as his paw paw Webbs, his name will be Austin Wayne Webb. Let me know when you want some eggs, I have some really nice looking Nankins now.

We just found out a few weeks ago. It was a total surprise, but we are very excited about it. Congratulations on the twins! A boy and girl, that is perfect and I love the name Austin. I grew up in Austin. My husband is terrified that we could possibly have twins. My grandfather was a fraternal twin and I am getting really big, really fast. I keep telling him that it is just because this is #4, but he doesn't share my feelings. I have an appointment on Nov. 21 and we will find out then. Thanks for the offer of the Nankins. I am going to have to wait a while (this is killing me ). I have been so sick with morning sickness (24 hours a day and much, much worst than with any of the other kids) and there is no way that I can clean out brooders and deal with chick smell right now. I just hatched out 18 buff silkies (decendents of your buffs) and the boys have been given the job of taking care of them. I put them in the incubator before we found out that I was expecting. We will see how well the boys handle the job before I put anymore in the bator. This will also determine if my oldest son gets to show broilers in the Parish show in January. He is going to show some of his rabbits and wants to show broilers. If he takes care of these buffs, I will let him order the broilers. I am not crazy about it, because I just can't kill anything that I have been raising and it has to be done with the broilers. He would also like to show the buffs that they have in the brooder. How old are the silkies when you start showing them? These will be about 2 months old at the time of the show. ccbmom

I wait till they are 4 months or older. I have to wait so I can tell if they are male or female. You know how hard it is with those silkie, they can fool you sometimes. Let me know when you find out what you are having.

I gave the silkie chicks to my SIL today. The kids were taking care of them, but it was just too much for them with all of the other animals that they are also taking care of. My SIL loves chickens and will take good care of them and I will get to see them grow up.
I will let you know what the baby is. I didn't know if I wanted to find out what the baby was going to be, but my husband wants to know, so I guess that we will find out. We are going to have the new 3D/4D ultrasound done probably in about a month. My husband saw pictures of this technology and got so excited when he found out that my doctor does this now. It costs an arm and leg, but the pictures are so clear. And since this is our last baby, we decided to get it done. It will be worth it.

Oh yes, they are wonderful, you can see so much detail. As a matter of fact, I got to see the twins today and you could really tell the boy was a boy.
